Italian Tennis Federation President Angelo Binaghi announced that Italy is bidding to bring the Davis Cup Finals to Milan from 2025.
Binaghi recently met Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala last week on the occasion of the Davis Cup Trophy exhibition in the Sala degli Arazzi of Palazzo Marino in Milan.
The Italian team led by world number 4 Jannik Sinner won the 2023 Davis Cup Finals in Malaga last November. Italy won the Davis Cup Trophy for the second time in history last November.
“We are ready to compete to bring the Davis Cup Finals to Milan from 2025 as soon from 2025 as soon as the ITF opens a call for tenders. We are convinced that we have what it takes to present a competitive bid, with the commitment of everyone, both public and private-sector parties. We have already begun talks with Giuseppe Sala and he knows how serious the commitment is”, said Binaghi.
Milan hosted the Next Gen ATP Finals until last year, while Turin hosts the Nitto ATP Finals until 2025. “We are very interested. It would be a dream, but it must be a strong bid without making a bad impression”, said Giuseppe Sala.
