Despite winning his first Masters 1000, Andrey Rublev does not budge in the ATP rankings, whereas Holger Rune moves up to the seventh spot, a new career-high.

A few comments:

  •  Stefanos Tsitsipas, the winner of the 2022 and 2021 editions of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 1000, but defeated in the quarterfinals this year by Taylor Fritz, drops two positions.
  • Felix Auger-Aliassime loses two positions as well and is No. 9.
  •  Daniil Medvedev and Casper Ruud gain one position. The Norwegian, in spite of a disappointing first part of season is back in third place. That’s a maths mystery.
  •  Lorenzo Musetti edges back into the top 20, pushing out Borna Coric, another player who has been struggling this year.
  • The gap between Djokovic and Alcaraz increases by 90 points. The two are now separated by 470 points.

NITTO ATP FINALS

The best litmus test of players’ performances is the ATP Race, whose top 8 at the end of the year will qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin in November. Jannik Sinner is currently in 3rd place and Casper Ruud is 21st. Quite a difference from the ATP Pepperstone Rankings where they are 8th and 3rd respectively. Russian tennis appears as rock solid, boasting 3 players in the top 8: Medvedev, Rublev and Khachanov. Holger Rune is 11th.

NEXT GEN ATP FINALS

France, Italy and the USA are well represented in the top 10 of the ranking dedicated to the best under 21 players. Of course, the first two spots are an Alcaraz – Rune affair.

BEST RANKING

Nine players have achieved their career highest this week. One of these, Alexander Shevchenko, makes his debut in the top 100 thanks to his victory at the Madrid Challenger, where he beat Pedro Cachin, ranked 61, in the final. Congratulations to the 22-year-old Russian talent.
