Former Roland Garros finalist Sara Errani beat Aliona Bolsova 6-4 6-4 after 1 hour and 36 minutes to reach the quarter finals at the Copa Colsanitas in Bogotà.
The first set started with six consecutive breaks. Errani was the first player to hold serve in the seventh game to take a 4-3 lead. After two holds of serve, Errani earned a break at love in the 10th game to close out the first set 6-4.
Errani went up a double break to race out to a 4-0 lead. Bolsova pulled back one break in the fifth game and held her serve to claw her way back to 2-4. Errani saved three break points to hold serve after nine deuces in a very long seventh game. Bolsova broke back for the second time but Errani closed out the match with a break at 30 in the 10th game, when Bolsova made a double fault.
Errani set up a quarter final match against either her compatriot Giulia Gatto Monticone or Slovenia’s Tamara Zidansek.
Lara Arruabarrena Vecino came back from one set down to beat Jasmine Paolini 2-6 6-4 6-2. Arruabarrena went up a break in the first game, but Paolini won four consecutive games with a double break to open up a 4-1 lead. Paolini held serve in the seventh game before breaking serve at love in the eighth game to close out the first set 6-2.
Arruabarrena went up an early break in the first game of the second set. Paolini broke back in the sixth game to draw level to 3-3. Arruabarrena got two of the three consecutive breaks to take a 5-4 lead. The Sanish player stopped the streak of three consecutive break with a hold at 15 to close out the first set 6-4.
Arruabarrena went up a double break in the first and fifth games to open up a 4-1 lead and held her final two service games to close out the decisive set 6-2.
Viktorija Tomova beat Yafan Wang 6-3 6-3. Both players traded breaks in the third and fourth games of the first set to draw level to 2-2. Tomova broke twice in in the seventh and ninth games to close out the first set 6-3. Tomova claimed the second set 6-3 after seven breaks in nine service games. Nuria Parrizas Diaz beat Aranxta Rus 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 6-1.
Parizzas Diaz earned an early break in the first game of the opening set. Rus broke straight back at deuce to draw level to draw level to 5-5. Parrizas Diaz went up a mini-break twice in the tie-break, but Rus broke back both times to draw level to 3-3. Parrizas Diaz won four of the next five games to claim the tie-break 7-4.
Rus broke three times to race out to a 5-0 lead in the second set. Parizzas Dias pulled back one break in the sixth game and saved three break points in the seventh game to claw her way back to 2-5. Rus fended off three break points to hold her final service game at deuce claiming the second set 6-2.
Parrizas broke twice in the second and fourth games at deuce and saved a break point before serving out the match after two deuces in the seventh game.
