Matteo Berrettini, Andrey Rublev and Karen Khachanov have signed up to the Thiem’s 7 exhibition tournament in Kitzbuhel, the Austrian mountain report, which traditionally hosts a prestigious ATP 250 clay court event. The Austrian tournament will be held from 7 to 11 July.
With the addition of Berrettini, the Thiem’s 7 tournament will feature three top ten players and five players from the top 15. The other big players in the field are tournament organizer Dominic Thiem and Gael Monfils, who are ranked respectively third and ninth, Andrey Rublev (world number 14) and Karen Khachanov (world number 15). The line-up is completed by Croatia’s Borna Coric and Austria’s Dennis Novak. The eighth player will be announced next week.
Berrettini has already signed up to play at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in Southern France in June. The 2019 US Open semifinalist reached the quarter final at the ATP 250 tournament in Kitzbuhel in July 2018. Rublev won two back-to-back titles in Doha and Adelaide last January. Khachanov won his first Masters 1000 title in Paris Bercy in 2018 and reached two semifinals in Montreal and Beijing in 2019.
Thiem did not drop a set en route to winning his first title in Kitzbuhel last year.
“It will be very special to return to Kitzbuhel for the first time since my first title. We have already an attractive line-up. I am looking forward to meeting the guys again. It’s fantastic to organize such a great tournament in a very short period of time”, said Thiem.
