Roger Federer seemed happy with his semi-final win over Borna Coric as he looks to win title number 100 in Dubai.

The 37 year-old convincingly beat an exhausted Borna Coric 6-2 6-2 to reach the final in Dubai and be on the verge of a historic 100th career title.

It was a simple 67 minute win for Federer who broke the Croatian four times to seal his place in the final. As for Coric after winning three last set tiebreaks in a row, the time spent on court caught up with the world number 13.

After the match Federer seemed pleased with his game heading into the final, “I was really happy with my play today,” Federer said.

“In terms of feeling, [this match] was definitely by far the best one [this week], so that was good. I’m sure Borna was feeling it a little bit from his past few matches.”

In the final tomorrow, Federer will be aiming to become the second player in the open era to win a century of titles behind Jimmy Connors.

However if the world number seven wants to achieve this great feat he will have to beat the last man to defeat him Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Greek is on an eight match winning streak after edging Gael Monfils 4-6 7-6(4) 7-6(4) in the last four as well as winning the Marseille title last week.

After beating Federer in four sets at the Australian Open Tsitsipas will be full of confidence ahead of the final and Federer knows the danger that’s ahead of him, “[Stefanos] showed me at the Australian Open, how hard he is [to play],” explained Federer.

I hope I’m going to play well… We’re still far from [reaching 100 titles], it seems. I’m just going to try to focus and play good tennis.

For Federer he will be back in the top five on Monday while Tsitsipas for the first time in his young career enters the world’s top ten.

It should be a fascinating final with history on the line as Federer goes for an eighth Dubai title. The final is set to begin at 7pm local time.
