At the launch Federer is confident that it will be another successful year for the Laver Cup especially considering that Rafael Nadal will return this year, “Knowing that Rafa will be in Team Europe gives me great confidence that we can be champions again,” Federer was quoted as saying at the event.
“He (Nadal) is a great person, a spectacular team player due to his professionalism, and a natural leader. great energy and motivation to all.
“The two editions have been very different from each other, I know the public in Geneva and I know that we will live an amazing and unique week again.”
Now he has promoted the event Federer will look to get his own season back on track when he competes in Dubai in a couple of weeks.
The Swiss hasn’t competed since his fourth round loss at the Australian Open to Stefanos Tsitsipas and will look to bounce back in the middle east, “I am spending a few weeks in Switzerland enjoying family and training, now I am heading to Dubai, in order to prepare myself well for the next events,” Federer said as he prepares to fly to Dubai tomorrow.
“I will play there and then I will compete in the Masters 1000 of Indian Wells and Miami.” After March the 37 year-old will play a couple of clay events after missing the past two clay court seasons.
It is likely that Federer will play Rome before playing Roland Garros although that hasn’t been confirmed by the Swiss star as of yet.
