World No.6 Kevin Anderson has said that he will donate a total of $2000 to two causes following his latest win at the ATP Finals.

The South African pledged to donate $100 for every ace he produced during his match against Kei Nishikori, which Anderson won 6-0, 6-1. In total, he hit 10 aces to raise $1000. The money will be donated to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). The LAFD are currently battling the deadliest wildfire in California’s history. According to the latest figures, 42 people have so far been killed.

“My coach (Brad Stine) is from California and so it’s a bit more close to home.” Said Anderson.
“We thought let’s try – we will donate and do it in a way that is interactive.”

Besides the donation to the fire department, Anderson has also pledged to give the same amount to the Humane Society of Ventura County in Ohio. An organization dedicated to the health, safety, and welfare of animals. The society has offered to care for the pets of those affected by the wildfires.

“Rescuing dogs is a big passion of ours and we are motivated by that, so we matched the $1,000 to the Fire Department, also to the animal rescue,” Anderson commented about the donation from his family.
“So it’s been something close to my heart and I think also of Brad, his house being out there, my agent, showed me a picture of the fires he could see from his house, so there’s been a lot of people affected so we wanted to make a small difference.”

Later this year Anderson will host his second annual Grand Slam Claws for The Paws. A fundraiser set up by him to raise money for dog rescuers Second Chance and Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas Alliance. Last year he raised over $34,000 at a one-night charity event.

The 32-year-old is bidding to become the first African tennis player to reach the semi-finals of the season-ending event in London this week. He is currently 2-0 in his group with wins over Nishikori and Dominic Thiem.
