Former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic’s charity, the Novak Djokovic Foundation has donated $111,000 for rebuilding the Bambi kindergarten in Pozega, Serbia.
Djokovic, who has been out of action since pulling out midway through his Wimbledon quarterfinal match against Tomas Berdych in July has been involved in improving the lives of underprivileged kids through his foundation in his home country of Serbia. His wife, Jelena oversees the charity work of the organization in the absence of Djokovic, who is extremely busy on the court.
More than three hundred kids, including girls and boys aged between three and five are being kept at the kindergarten at present. The reconstruction of the kindergarten will feature the installation of news doors and windows, whereas the existing sanitary blocks will undergo extensive repairs. Additionally, the water supply to the kindergarten will be improved and the sewage network will be strengthened.
The municipality of Pozega also contributed to the project by donating an amount of $17,776. The Novak Djokovic Foundation came into existence a decade ago in 2007 and has been doing commendable work by helping young people achieve their dreams.
