Tickets for the Ryder Cup and one of Ivan Lendl’s tennis rackets are just some of the prizes up for grabs in a new online charity auction launched by Andy Murray.

The former world No.1 has launched the initiative ahead of the Andy Murray Live night next month. Hosted in Glasgow for the second year running, the exhibition event raises money for Unicef as well as as local charities. This year Murray will be joined by Roger Federer, who will be playing in Scotland for the first time in his career.

“Last year’s Andy Murray Live raised £305,000 for charity and our plans for this year are even more ambitious. By taking part in the auction you will be supporting this year’s two charities – children’s charity Unicef and Glasgow-based Sunny-sid3up. I really appreciate your support.” Said Murray.

UNICEF is the The United Nations Children’s Fund. An organisation founded in 1946 by the UN General assembly. Murray has been an ambassador to the British branch of the charity since 2016. Glasgow-based charity Sunny-sid3up aims to improve lives and communities in Scotland and overseas.

Murray’s hasn’t played on the ATP Tour since Wimbledon due to a hip injury. He attempted to return at the US Open, but was forced to pull out two days before the event began. Since then, the Brit has been undergoing extensive rehab. Over the weekend, he posted a duo of videos of him practicing.

Slowly but surely getting there🎯🎯🎯

The charity auction is hosted on www.amlauction2017.com. Members are invited to view the ‘silent items’ and bid on the prizes that they want. The person with the highest bid wins. Among the items are tickets to the 2018 Aegon Championships and British Davis Cup tie, and a Wimbledon poster signed by Federer and Marin Cilic.

The auction will be held between October 23rd – November 6th. The day before Andy Murray Live takes place. All proceeds raised from the auction will be split evenly between the two charities.
