Gilles Muller has targeted more years on the tour after he announced today that he will end his 2017 season earlier than expected.

The 34 year old from Luxembourg has had an amazing season after winning his two titles in Sydney and S-Hertogenbosch. He also managed to reach the final in Estoril, where he lost to Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta on the red clay in Portugal. The biggest achievement of Muller’s season may have been reaching the Quarter-Finals of Wimbledon where he beat Rafael Nadal in a 4 hour epic, where he won the fifth set 15-13.

However today he revealed that he has an annoying tendon on his left elbow and has called an end to his 2017 season, ‘I have made this decision to end my season after consulting my physiotherapists and my team.’ However he did announce that he wants to extend his career despite his age and will play for at least one more season:

‘I’ve come to the where I will aggravate my injury and I may jeopardise my 2018 season. I would like to play for at least one more season.’

Muller joins Kei Nishikori, Andy Murrray, Stan Wawrinka and Novak Djokovic ending his season earlier than they expected to.
