A competition has been launched for Scottish tennis fans with Andy Murray looking for somebody to team up with him for a charity exhibition night later this year.
The second edition of the Andy Murray live event will take place at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on November 7th. Murray is looking for one fan to join him in a doubles match against family members Judy and Jamie Murray. The competition was officially launched on Friday morning by former Fed Cup captain Judy at the Perth Tennis Club.
“I’m thrilled that Andy Murray Live is returning to Glasgow this year.” She said.
“I’m hugely passionate about growing the game north of the border and it’s great to see SSE giving Scottish tennis fans lots of ways to get involved.
“The #TeamUp campaign is unique – it’s not every day you get the chance to partner up with a double Wimbledon champion.
“I’ll be on the other side of the net with Jamie so whoever the lucky winner is, they’ll have to be on top of their game!
“It should be a lot of fun.”
Fans interested in the competition have to film themselves playing keepie-up with a tennis racket and ball for ten seconds. The video must then be uploaded to social media, tagging @SSE in the post. The hashtags #TeamUp and #AMLive17 must also be used.
The winner will receive a hospitality pass where they can conduct a Q&A session with the players participating. They will also be given tickets for the event, which has already sold out.
Joining Murray at the SSE Hydro this year will be Wimbledon champion Roger Federer, who is set to play in Scotland for the first time in his life. Earlier this year the two played another charity match in aid of Federer’s Match For Africa exhibition, which raises funds for his own charity. Tim Henman and Mansour Bahrami will also feature at the event.
Similar to 2016, this year’s charity night will raise money for Unicef and a Scottish charity, which is yet to be named. Last year’s event raised over £305,000 and was attended by a sell-out crowd of 10,000 people.
