Entry lists for the first two clay-court Atp tournaments in Houston and Marrakesh have been announced.
The two events will take place from the 10th to the 16th of April, after the Miami Master 1000 and the Davis Cup quarterfinals.
The Men’s Clay Court Championship is played in Houston (Texas, USA) at the River Oaks Country Club, and it is the only North American tournament played on red clay (formerly on green clay or Har-Tru). Furthermore, past champions include Jimmy Connors, Manuel Orantes, Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, Michael Chang and Andy Roddick. The defending champion is Argentina’s Juan Monaco, who defeated Jack Sock 3-6 6-3 7-5 in the final.
The Gran Prix Hassan II has been held in Marrakech (Morocco) since last year, after 31 editions in Casablanca. At the moment it is the only Atp tournament taking place in Africa, as the South Africa Tennis Open has not been played since 2011. The defending champion is Argentina’s Federico Delbonis, who beat Borna Coric 6-2 6-4 in the last round, while former winners include Thomas Muster, Guillermo Canas, Yunes El Aynaoui and Juan Carlos Ferrero.
