Kristina Mladenovic has announced her decision to split with her coach Georges Goven after a season in which she won a Grand Slam doubles title at Roland Garros and finished runner-up with her partner Caroline Garcia in the doubles tournament at the US Open but dropped to number 42 in the WTA singles ranking. The French player has not announced the name of the her new coach.
“I had a discussion with Goerges and we decided to stop. The season has been good and there are no concerns. It’s difficult to explain why I split. I can’t say it with precision. I need a consultant who is a former champion. ”, told Mladenovic to the French sports newspapaer L’Equipe.
Andrea Petkovic has hired her new coach Sasha Nensel, who previously coached Julia Goerges and Dusan Lajovic. Nensel was the director of the Tennis Academy run by Rainer Schuettler and Alexander Waske called Tennis University. The German player split with Simon Goffin, the brother of David Goffin. Petkovic has dropped to world number 55 in the WTA Ranking after a difficult year.
Nensel will not follow Petkovic full time on the circuit as he is working as the director of the Tennis Academy and will continue coaching Tobias Kamke.
