David Nalbandian has miraculously managed to escape without any injuries following a heavy crash during a Rally racing tournament in Argentina.
The 34-year-old was participating in the Rally de Entre Ríos when his car flip over twice before landing on its side. Whilst Nalbandian managed to walk away from the crash, officials did suspend racing in that area due to safety concerns.
“In a fast area, the Chevrolet he was driving lost control and hit (the ground) very hard but without consequences for the crew,” TYC Sports reported.
Earlier this year the former world No.3 revelled that he was going to embark on the Argentine rally circuit, but has no plans to take is as serious as his tennis career.
“I watched the rally in mountains for four-five years, really liked it. Motorsport is different, it’s on a gravel, snow and tarmac. It is different from the first to the last stage. Anything can happen. There are stones in the middle of the stages. Everything change all the time that’s why it is very difficult,” said Nalbandian.
According to rallyargentino.com, the Argentine currently lies in fifth place in the ‘Maxi Rally’ category with 110 points.
