The tested Italian duo of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci will join hands once again for the women’s doubles event at the Rio Olympics 2016.
The two had been playing with each other since over a decade but decided to end their partnership in March last year. Together, they won 5 Grand Slam titles en route to completing a career Slam in women’s doubles, besides clinching multiple titles on the tour.
Giovanni Malago, President of the Italian National Olympic Committee, corroborated on the decision.
“Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci will play together at the Olympics in Rio. We solved all problems; thank the girls for all this,” he said, before notifying that the duo will tune up together at the Rogers Cup in Montreal before heading to Brazil.
Vinci, later, confirmed reuniting with Errani, saying: “I confirm the words of President Malagò. After all we have done, an Olympic medal would be an icing on the cake.”
