As the rain disrupts practice at the Caja Magica, Dominika Cibulkova had the luxury of playing under the roof on the Manolo Santana Stadium.
Later on today, the world No. 38 will play American qualifier Louisa Chirico for a chance to play in her first WTA Premier final. Cibulkova’s route to the semifinals has consisted of wins over top seed Agnieszka Radwanska, Caroline Garcia, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Sorana Cirstea.
The potential milestone had little to impact on what was a very routine practice session for the former Australian Open finalist. Working on all areas of her game (forehands, backhands, serving and play at the net), she was focused and continuously interacting with her team for advice.
Today is another special day for Cibulkova, it is her 27th birthday. Will a bit of birthday luck be on her side in today’s match?
