The two Grand Slam champions have arrived in Thailand ahead of their exhibition match at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok.
Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will play each other on October 2nd at the 15,000 capacity venue. Both players have played in the country before at the Thailand Open before the tournament was cancelled in 2014. According to officials tickets for the match was sold out ‘within hours’.
The match will prepare the two ahead of next week’s China Open, a tournament which has been dominated by Djokovic. Since 2009 the world No.1 has won the title five out of six times. Nadal’s best result at the tournament was reaching the 2013 final.
The two players have played each other on the tour 44 times since 2006 with Nadal currently leading the head-to-head 23-21. Despite the numbers being in Nadal’s favour, Djokovic has won five out of their six most recent encounters.
The match will be broadcast live in Spain by Canal + Deportes. The exhibition will begin at 13:30 GMT on Friday October 2nd.
The two men were greeted at the airport by Thai officials before travelling to their hotel. It is reported that they also went shopping before attending a press conference.
