Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed his withdrawal from Roland Garros due to a wrist injury.

The Spaniard suffered the injury at the ATP 500 event in Barcelona and was forced to withdraw from his second round contest with Tomas Machac.

After scans, Alcaraz then withdraw from the Mutua Madrid Open as he was uncertain about his participation from the tournament.

Now the worst news possible has been confirmed for Alcaraz as he has had to withdraw from both Rome and Roland Garros.

Announcing the news on social media, Alcaraz said it was better to be cautious and acknowledged he is uncertain when he will return to the tennis court, “After the results of the tests carried out today, we have decided that the most prudent thing is to be cautious and not participate in Rome and Roland Garros, while we wait to assess the evolution to decide when we will return to the court,” Alcaraz said in Spanish.

“It’s a complicated moment for me, but I’m sure we’ll come out stronger from here.”

Last year Alcaraz won both Rome and Roland Garros which included winning an absolute epic against Jannik Sinner in last year’s final in Paris.

The Spaniard will now lose 3,000 points and bids to return in time for the Grass Court season especially Wimbledon where he has won the title on two previous occasions.
