Third round singles action continues on Sunday.

Sunday’s Order of Play provides a surplus of Major singles champions and runners-up, with some of them colliding in the third round.  Reigning Major champs Carlos Alcaraz, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina headline the day’s busy schedule.

Here’s a rundown of the most notable matches on Sunday (in chronological order, all times local):

Jelena Ostapenko (25) vs. Jasmine Paolini (7) – 11:00am on Butch Buchholz Court

Both players have modest records on the year, as they have lost nearly as many matches as they’ve won.  Paolini was a semifinalist here a year ago, while Ostapenko was the runner-up back in 2018.  The Italian required three sets in her opening round to overcome Taylor Townsend, unlike Ostapenko who beat Dayana Yastremska in straights.  Jelena leads their head-to-head 2-1, and has claimed both of their encounters on this surface.

Leylah Fernandez (26) vs. Jessica Pegula (5) – 12:00pm on Stadium Court

Pegula is an excellent 17-3 this season, and only had to play for 38 minutes in her opening round before her opponent retired.  Fernandez is just 3-7 this season, after defeating Oksana Selekhmeteva in three sets on Saturday.  Pegula won this title in 2023, while Fernandez has never advanced beyond this round in Miami.  And Jess is 2-1 against Leylah, which includes a 7-5, 6-4 victory at this same event two years ago.

Rafael Jodar (Q) vs. Tomas Martin Etcheverry (29) – Second on Butch Buchholz Court

Jodar is a standout 19-year-old from Spain who within the past five months has gone 31-8 at all levels, and has reached three Challenger-level finals, winning two of them.  After coming through qualifying here and winning two rounds in the main draw, he will debut inside the world’s top 100.  Like another impressive 19-year-old, Joao Fonseca, Jodar possesses imposing power, and a formidable forehand.  Etcheverry is coming off a clay court title last month in Rio de Janeiro, but this is the farthest he has ever advanced at a Masters 1000 event.

Elena Rybakina (3) vs. Marta Kostyuk (27) – Third on Grandstand Court

Rybakina is now 18-4 on the year, following a 6-3, 6-3 win in her opening round over Yulia Putintseva.  Kostyuk started the year by reaching the final in Brisbane, but her straight-set victory in her opening round is only her second match win since that run.  This is a rematch from two weeks ago in Indian Wells, where Rybakina prevailed 6-4, 6-4.

Carlos Alcaraz (1) vs. Sebastian Korda (32) – Third on Stadium Court

In a highly-anticipated first-time matchup on Friday night, Alcaraz beat Fonseca in straight sets, bringing his 2026 record to 17-1.  Carlitos’ Miami title back in 2022 was his first Masters 1000 triumph, but he’s yet to win the title again.  He is 4-1 against Korda, with all four of those victories coming in straight sets.

Qinwen Zheng (23) vs. Madison Keys (15) – Fourth on Grandstand Court

Keys often starts off the season in strong form, yet she’s just 8-4 on the year.  And despite being a Florida resident, she owns a losing record of 13-14 at this tournament.  Qinwen has spent much of the past year battling an elbow injury, and her 6-3, 6-2 victory on Saturday was just her fifth match of 2026.  Their only prior meeting occurred three years ago in Washington, with Madison winning 7-5, 6-1.

Aryna Sabalenka (1) vs. Caty McNally – Not Before 7:00pm on Stadium Court

Sabalenka is 18-1 this season, and remarkably has still not lost a set during 2026 to anyone besides Elena Rybakina.  McNally upset 29th-seeded Xinyu Wang in the last round, but as per Tennis Abstract, she is 0-11 lifetime against top 20 players.

Arthur Fils (28) vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas – Not Before 8:30pm on Stadium Court

Fils has gone 10-4 since last month, when he returned from an over six-month injury layoff.  On Friday, Tsitsipas extended his record against Alex de Minaur to a staggering 12-1 lifetime, but he’s currently ranked outside the top 50, as his form has dramatically declined of late, as he’s suffered from multiple injuries of his own.  And Fils is a perfect 4-0 against Tsitsipas.
