Iga Swiatek has decided to part ways with coach Wim Fisette after her recent run of results on the Tour.

The world No.3 confirmed on Monday that she has decided to no longer continue working with Fisette, who has been her coach since October 2024. Under his guidance, Swiatek won a trio of WTA titles, with the most prestigious of those being at Wimbledon last year. Fisette, who has also previously coached the likes of Naomi Osaka and Victoria Azarenka, was part of the Pole’s team when she served a 28-day ban for an anti-doping violation. Swiatek tested positive for trimetazidine (TMZ), which was linked to a contaminated medication she took.

Swiatek’s decision comes just days after she lost her opening match at the Miami Open to Magda Linette. The first time she has lost her opening match at an event since the 2021 WTA Finals. Prior to Miami, she reached three consecutive quarter-finals at the Australian Open (losing to Elena Rybakina), Qatar Open (losing to Maria Sakkari) and Indian Wells (losing to Elina Svitolina).

Sometimes life and sport bring moments like this,” Swiatek wrote in a statement published on Instagram.

“Miami was challenging for me. I feel disappointment, bitterness and responsibility for my performance on the court of course. I’ve also learned a lot of important lessons and I think that’s very human.

That being said, after many months of working together with my coach Wim Fisette I’ve decided to take a different path. It was an intense time full of challenges and many important experiences. I’m grateful for his support, experience, and everything we achieved together – including one of my biggest dreams in sport.”

The shake-up comes ahead of the clay swing, where Swiatek will be defending semi-final points at both the Madrid Open and French Open. Besides the departure of Fisette, she has confirmed that no other changes will be made to her team at the moment.

The rest of my team remains unchanged,” she states.

“I know there are many questions, but I’ll let you know what’s next at the right time. I’m taking a moment to take care of myself, process this experience, and prepare for a new chapter. Simply, step by step, because as I often say – it’s a marathon, not a sprint.”

There appears to be no hard feelings between the two with Fisette posting his own tribute to the six-time Grand Slam champion following the confirmation of his departure.

“In 2018, I met Iga at the Wimbledon Champions Dinner after she won juniors. Seven years later, we won it together. A nice story.” Fisette said in his own Instagram post.

“We both wanted and worked for more but shared important moments and lessons. Iga, I now wish you good luck and success in what’s next. I’m sure you will have it.”

No information has been issued about who Swiatek might work with now. Since making her WTA debut, she has also worked with fellow Poles Piotr Sierzputowski (2016-2021) and Tomasz Wiktorowski (2021-2024).
