Top seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool beat Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos 6-3 7-5 in 1 hour and 17 minutes to finish second in the Peter Fleming Group.
Cash and Glasspool set up an all-British semifinal clash against Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski.
Cash and Glasspool broke serve in the fourth game to take a 3-1 lead and held serve at 15 in the fifth game to consolidate the break for 4-1 lead. Zeballos and Granollers missed a break point in the seventh game. Cash and Glasspool served out the opening set with a hold at love.
Cash and Glasspool earned a break in the 11th game of the second set before serving out the win the in the 12th game. The British team served out the win on the second match point.
“We knew it was going to be a very tough match. They’re definitely one of the most in-form teams. They haven’t played a lot of tennis, but when they’ve been on the court, they’ve won pretty much everything. We expected them to play as well as they did and we fought very deep in the big moments and managed to come out on top”, said Cash.
