Gabrielle Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe beat Mirra Andreeva and Diana Schnaider 6-3 7-6 (7-2) in the first doubles match of the Liezel Huber Group on day two of the WTA Finals in Riyadh.
Dabrowski and Routliffe converted their second break point in the first game of the second set and held serve at 30 to open up a 2-0 lead. The first set went on serve until the ninth game, when Dabrowski and Routliffe broke again on their third set point.
Andreeva and Schnaider broke serve in the third game of the second set to take a 2-1 lead and consolidated their break with a hold at love in the fourth game for 3-1. Dabrowski and Routliffe saved two break points in the fifth game for 2-3 before converting their third break-back in the 10th game to draw level to 5-5. Dabrowski and Routliffe saved a break point in the 11th game to hold for 6-5. Andreeva and Schnaider held serve in the 12th game to force the first set to the tie-break. Dabrowski and Routliffe earned two breaks to win the tie-break 7-2.
Dabrowski and Routliffe won their second US Open in the past three editions and Cinicinnati this year.
