Davis Cup title at the 2025 Final 8 in the Italian city of Bologna from 16 to 23 November 2025.

Three of the eight top 10 players are set to compete at the Unipol Arena in Bologna. World number 1 players Carlos Alcaraz and 2021 Olympic champion Alexander Zverev will lead the line-up.

Italy vs Austria:

Italy will defend the Davis Cup title in front of their home fans after winning two back-back titles in 2023 and 2024. Sinner, this year’s Australian Open and Wimbledon champion, led Italy to two consecutive titles, but he announced last October that he would not play in Bologna.

Lorenzo Musetti also decided to miss the Davis Cup 8 Final after losing to Carlos Alcaraz at the ATP Finals in Turin earlier this week. The Italian team is led by Matteo Berrettini, Wimbledon finalist in 2021. The other members of the home team are Lorenzo Sonego, Flavio Cobolli, and doubles specialists Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli, who reached the Australian Open final and the semifinals at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin in 2025.

Cobolli reached a career-high of world number 22. He won two titles in Bucharest and Hamburg and advanced to the quarter finals at Wimbledon. Cobolli played just two Davis Cup matches during last year’s Finals Group Stage.

Berrettini reached a career-high of world number 6 in 2022 before undergoing surgery on his right hand. The 29-year-old Italian player won the Davis Cup at last year’s Final 8 in Malaga. He has not lost a     Davis Cup singles match since 2019.

The last time that the Italian team captained by Filippo Volandri lost a Davis Cup tie dates back to 13 September 2023 when they were beaten by Canada.

Austria will be led by Filip Misolic and Jurij Rodionov. Misolic won two ATP Challenger titles and rose over 200 places in the ATP Rankings. He lost to Novak Djokovic in the third round at Roland Garros after coming through the qualifying round.

Jurij Rodionov achieved one of the biggest wins of his career when he beat Hungary Fucsovics 6-2 6-1 in the decisive match at last September’s Davis Cup Qualifier in Debrecen.

Vavassori and Bolelli won four titles in Adelaide, Rotterdam, Hamburg and Washington and reached two finals at the Australian Open and Halle and the semifinals at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. Bolelli has played in 46 Davis Cup matches in his career.

Spain vs Czech Republic

Jaume Munar has not won a Davis Cup match and lost against Elmar Moller in the Qualifier against Denmark last September and is undefeated in doubles matches. Munar is at a career-high of world number 36 after reaching the semifinals at the ATP 500 in Basel.

Pedro Martinez teamed up with Munar to win a crucial doubles match in the  Davis Cup Qualifier against Denmark before claiming an epic singles match against Holger Rune as Spain came back from 0-2 down to win a Davis Cup tie for the first time. Martinez has a 5-2 win-loss record in Davis Cup doubles matches.

Pablo Carreno Busta was part of the team that won the Davis Cup title in 2019. The Spanish player clinched the decisive match in Spain’s come-back win against Denmark. Carreno Busta won the Masters 1000 title in Toronto 2022, the Olympic bronze medal in Tokyo 2021 and is a former world number 10 player.

Marcel Granollers is ranked world number 6 in doubles and has won five doubles titles alongside Horacio Zeballos this year: two Grand Slams at Roland Garros and US Open, a Masters 1000 title in Madrid, the ATP 500 in Basel and the ATP 250 in Bucharest.

The Czech team is guided by former world number 4 Tomas Berdych, who began his captaincy in the Davis Cup at the start of this season. Berdych represented the Czech team for 14 years and won this competition in back-to-back years in 2012 and 2013.

Jiri Lehecka, Tomas Machac and Jakub Mensik are the top names in the Czech team.

Lehecka won the second ATP title of his career in Brisbane last January and reached the quarter finals at the US Open. The Czech player has remained unbeaten in his three singles matches in the Davis Cup. He beat Taylor Fritz in a decisive three-set match against the USA in the Qualifiers second round in Delray Beach.

Mensik won his first Masters 1000 title in Miami beating Novak Djokovic. The 20-year-old Czech player beat Frances Tiafoe in the decisive singles tie in Delray Beach.

Machac teamed up with Tomas Machac for the doubles match against Austin Kraijeck and Raijev Ram in the tie against Czech Republic. Machac broke into the top 20 after winning his first title in Acapulco last March. He won the mixed doubles gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

Argentina vs Germany

Argentina is the only non-European team competing in the Final 8. The South American team won the Davis Cup in 2016. They beat Norway and the Netherlands in two European away ties to reach the Final 8.

Argentina returns to the Final 8 for the second consecutive edition after narrowly missing out in the doubles match against Italy in the quarter final last year.

Argentina will be headlined by singles world number 21 Francisco Cerundolo and doubles world number 3 Horacio Zeballos.

Cerundolo broke into the top 20 last May after reaching the semifinals at the Masters 1000 in Madrid. The Argentine player beat Aexander Zverev 7-5 6-3 in the fourth round in the Spanish clay tournament.

Cerundolo missed Qualifiers first round against Norway last January, but he beat Botic Van de Zandschulp in straight sets in the second round tie against the Netherlands.

Francisco Cerundolo: “I grew up watching many different sports, many different great athletes from my country. One day I would like to be like them and now it’s my turn and I’m super proud of myself, of the career I’ve been doing so far, what I’m achieving. Every time I step onto the court representing Argentina, I feel different than during the year in a normal match. I know I have all my teammates and all the staff behind me, and my country supporting me, so I try to perform as well as possible on the court. It’s probably one of the best feelings that I have in my career as a player.”

Tomas Martin Etcheverry beat Jesper de Jong in Argentina’s 3-1 win over the Netherlands. Etcheverry reached the semifinals in Hamburg.

Francisco Comesana lost to Jesper de Jong in his Davis Cup debut in Qualifiers second round. Comesana beat Alexander Zverev in Rio de Janeiro, Reilly Opelka in Cincinnati and Alex Michelsen at the US Open.

The doubles team formed by Horacio  Zeballos and Andres Molteni beat Norway’s Casper Ruud and Viktor Durasovic in the Qualififiers First Round. Zeballos and Molteni beat Sander Arends and Bitic Van de Zandschulp from the Netherlands  6-3 7-5 to secure Argentina a spot in the Final 8. Zeballos won two Grand Slam titles at Roland Garros and at the US Open with Marcel Granollers.

Molteni won the Paris Masters 1000  title alongside his regular doubles partner Maximo Gonzales.

Molteni and Gonzales won two out of three of their Round Robin stage matches before losing to Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini in the quarter finals.

Alexander Zverev leads the German team. The 28-year-old Hamburg native finished runner-up in all three Grand Slam finals he has played, including this year’s Australian Open final, and won the Olympic title in Tokyo 2021. He has contested just seven Davis Cup ties. He has lost just two singles matches since 2018 against Rafael Nadal and Marc Andrea Huesler. This year he won the ATP 500 title in Munich, reached the final in Vienna and three Masters 1000 semifinal in Toronto, Cincinnati and Paris.

Jan Lennard Struff reached a career-high of world number 21 in June 2023. Struff won his first ATP Tour title in Munich 2024 by beating Taylor Fritz. The German player has never lost a singles match in the best-of-three format. He became the first lucky loser to reach a Masters 1000 final in history in Madrid.

Yannik Hanfmann reached the semifinal at the ATP 250 tournament in Athens and the third round at the Masters 1000 in Shanghai, before losing to Novak Djokovic at both tournaments.

Doubles partners Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz won two titles in Halle and at the Shanghai Masters 1000 tournament. Krawietz has won 15 of his 16 Davis Cup doubles titles.  The German teammates won their first Grand Slam title  at Roland Garros in 2020 and at the Nitto ATP Finals at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin in 2024.

France vs Belgium

Paul Henry Mathieu became French Davis Cup captain at the start of the 2024 season taking over Sebastian Grojeans. He guided the French team to wins against Brazil and Croatia.

The stand-out name in the French team is Ugo  Humbert, who won the seventh title of his career in Marseille last February. The Frenchman reached the final in Stockolm and the semifinal in Basel. He beat Brazil’s  Joao Fonseca 7-5 6.3 in the Davis Cup Qualifier last February.

Arthur Rinderknech reached a career-high of world number 27 after finishing runner-up to his cousin Valentin Vacherot at the Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai. Earlier at this event he beat Alexander Zverev, Jiri Lehechka, Felix Auger Aliassime and Danil Medvedev. Rinderknech beat Marin Cilic in the Davis Cup second round tie to help France win over Croatia.

Pierre-Hugues Herbert was part of the French team, that beat Croatia in the 2018 Davis Cup in Lille. Herbert and Nicolas Herbert won all three doubles matches that year against the Netherlands, Croatia and Italy.

Benjamin Bonzi and Pierre Hugues Herbert beat Brazil’s Rafael Matos and Marcelo Melo but lost to Croatian specialists Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic in their Davis Cup appearances this year.

Belgian captain Steve Darcis played in both of Belgium’s Davis Cup finals in 2015 and 2017. He partnered David Goffin in the doubles against Andy and Jamie Murray in 2015.

The Belgian team is led by Zizou Bergs, who broke into the top 40 last October. Bergs beat Andrey Rublev in Miami. He reached the final in S’Hertogenbosch and beat Casper Ruud, Francisco Cerundolo and Gabriel Diallo to advance to the quarter final in Miami. Bergs beat Australia’s James Duckworth before losing to Alex De Minaur in the Qualifier second round in Sydney.

Alexander Blockx made his debut in Hesselt on home soil in the Qualifiers First Round, where he forced a first set tie-break in his defeat against Cristian Garin. Blockx won two Challenger titles in Orleans and Bratislava.
