Alexander Zverev saved two match points to beat Danil Medvedev 2-6 6-3 7-6 (7-5) at the Paris Rolex Masters at the Defese Arena ,
Medvedev broke twice in the fifth and seventh games and served out the first set 6-2 after saving two break points in the eighth game.
Medvedev led by a set and a break at the start of the second set, but Zverev broke straight back in the second game to draw level to 1-1. Zverev broke serve to take a 5-3 lead in the eighth game and served the second set at love.
Zverev and Medvedev traded breaks in the third and fourth games of the third set to draw level to 2-2. Zverev saved two match points at 4-5 on serve. Zverev went up a mini-break twice at 3-1 and 5-3 in the tie-break, but Medvedev pulled back on serve both times to draw level to 5-5. Zverev earned his third mini-break to win the tie-break 7-5.
Zverev ended a five-match losing streak against Medvedev setting up a semifinal clash against world number 2 Jannik Sinner at the Paris Rolex Masters.
Sinner beat Zverev in last week’s final of the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna.
