Jasmine Paolini beat Veronika Kudemertova 6-2 7-5 to reach the quarter final at the WTA 500 in Niingbo.
Paolini converted five of the six break points he earned.
Kudemertova broke to love in the first game of the opening set to take a 2-0 lead. Paolini came back by winning six consecutive games with three breaks of serve to clinch the first et 6-2.

Paolini set up a quarter final match against Belinda Bencic, who came back from one set down to beat Yulia Starodubtseva 5-7 6-4 7-5 in a hard-fought match. Bencic broke serve in the third game to take a 2-1 lead, but she did not convert a set point at 5-4. Starodubtseva earned two breaks in the 10th and 12thgames to close out the first set 7-5.
Bencic went up a double break in the first and seventh games to take a 5-2 lead. Starodubtseva pulled one break back in the eighth game and held serve at 15 to reduce the gap to 4-5. Bencic served out at deuce after saving a break point. Bencic broke twice in the fifth and seventh game to build a 5-2 lead but she did not convert two match points. Starodubseva pulled both breaks back in the eighth and tenth games to draw level to 5-5. Bencic earned her third break in the 11th game and sealed the win on the third match point.
