Jannik Sinner beats Carlos Alcaraz to win second consecutive title at the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh

This year’s Australian Open and Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner beat  six-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz 6-2 6-4 in 73 minutes in the final of the Six Kings Slam to win the golden raquet in a repeat of last year’s final of this exhibition tournament. 

Sinner, defending champion at the Six Grand Slam winner, did not face any break points and converted three of his ten break points. 

Sinner earned an early break at 15 in the first game of the opening set and held serve at 30 in the second game with an unreturned serve to take a 2-0 lead. Alcaraz held serve to reduce the deficit to 1-2  when Sinner made a backhand error in the third game. 

Sinner held serve in the fourth game with a forehand winner to take a 3-1 lead. Sinner went up a double break in the fifth game to open up a 4-1 lead when Alcaraz netted a backhand. 

Sinner held serve in the sixth game with a smash winner to consolidate the break for 5-1. Alcaraz held at 30 with a service winner, as he was serving to stay in the set. Sinner closed out the first set 6-2 in 37 minutes with service winners. 

Alcaraz held serve in the first game of the second set with a forehand down the line. Sinner held with a service winner in the second game. Alcaraz hit with a backhand winner in the third game. Sinner held at love in the fourth game to draw level to 2-2. Alcaraz faced five break points in the fifth game to hold serve with a forehand winner for 3-2. Sinner held serve in the sixth game for 3-3 before earning a break in the seventh game with a volley winner at the net. 

Sinner held at 15 in the eighth game to open up a 5-3 lead. Alcaraz hit a drop shot and held serve with a service winner in the ninth game for 4-5. Sinner fired three winners at 5-4 to earn match points and converted his first opportunity to win his second title in Ryadh. 

Jannik Sinner: “This season we played many, many times and I also lost many times to Carlos. It is a huge pleasure and honour to share the court with him. I wish I could play like this everywhere”.
