Holger Rune beat Sebastian Baez 7-5 6-4 to reach the second round at the Shanghai Rolex Masters.
Baez earned an early break in the first game to take a 1-0 lead, but Rune pulled back on serve to 1-1 in the second game. The Danish player earned his second break in the fourth game to take a 3-1 lead. Baez broke straight back and held serve at love in the next game to draw level to 3-3. Both players went on serve until the 12th game where Rune earned his third break to close out the first set 7-5.
Rune converted his fifth game in the second set of the second set and held serve to 30 to race out to a 3-0 lead. Baez broke back in the ninth game for 4-5. Rune sealed the win with a break in the 10th game.
