Alex De Minaur beat Jurij Rodionov 6-4 6-1 at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna to reach the second round at Erste Bank Open in Vienna. De Minaur claimed the 300th win of his career on the ATP Tour.
De Minaur saved two break points in the fifth game of the opening set to hold serve at deuce for 3-2. Both players went on serve until the 10th game when De Minaur broke serve on his second set point to close out the first set 6-4.
De Minaur went up a break in the second game and held serve at love to take a 3-0 lead. The Australian player converted his fourth break point in the sixth game to take a 5-1 lead and served out the win on his first match point.
“It’s pretty cool. You go through this sport, through your career, and you don’t really get time or many options to really let something sink in. This is one of those things that is a pretty cool moment, to get to 300. Obviously, it seems what has been a long career and I’ve enjoyed these 300 wins”, said De Minaur.
De Minaur will face either Camilo Ugo Carabelli or Filip Misolic. The Aussie is currently seventh in the ATP Live Race to Turin.
Eighth seed Alexander Bublik beat Alejandro Tabilo 6-4 6-4 in just 68 minutes in their first head-to-head match. Bublik hit 12 aces and won 91% of his first serve points. The Kazakh will play against Francisco Cerundolo or Alex Michelsen for a spot in the quarter final.
Bublik converted his second break point in the ninth game and served out 6-4 with a hold at 15 in the next game. Bublik converted his third break point in the seventh game to take a 4-3 lead and sealed the win on his first match point.
Tallon Griekpoor edged past Karen Khachanov 6-3 5-7 6-4. Griekspoor converted his third break point in the eighth game and served out on his second set point in the next game.
Khachanov saved a break point to hold serve in the third game for 2-1. Khachanov broke serve on his first set point in the 12th game to win the second set 7-5 forcing the match to the decider.
Khachanov saved a break point in the first game of the third set. Both players went on serve until the seventh game when Griekspoor broke serve in the seventh game to take a 4-3 lead. The Dutchman sealed the win on his first match point in the 10th game.
