After the conclusion of Friday’s semi-final matches at the US Open, tennis Hall of Famer Steve Flink joined Ubitennis to analyze those encounters and debate where Novak Djokovic goes from here.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have set up a showdown in Sunday’s final, where the world No. 1 ranking will also be on the line. Alcaraz disposed of 24-time major winner Novak Djokovic in straight sets. Djokovic, who turned 38 in May, has reached the last four of every major event this season but hasn’t been able to win a set in another of those matches. The Serbian is still hungry for more silverware, but time is not on his side.
Meanwhile, top seed Sinner dropped a set against a resurgent Felix Auger-Aliassime before moving into the final. He is through to his fifth consecutive Grand Slam final, which is a streak that has only been matched by the Big Three (Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer) in the Open Era. He is also the youngest man to reach the final of every major within the same season.
