Elena Rybakina produced a dominant display against Emma Raducanu to book a place in the fourth round of the US Open.

The Kazakh is into the last 16 in New York for the first time in her career after an impressive display over the former champion.

It was a poor performance from Raducanu who failed to mount any sort of challenge in the match.

Now Rybakina will face either Marketa Vondrousova or Jasmine Paolini in the fourth round.

From the start of the match Rybakina was dominant on serve and also produced sensational depth on return, as she took an early 3-0 lead.

After cruising through her first two rounds, Raducanu was hoping to spring an upset after a very good US hard court season but that never materialised despite holding in the fourth game.

The ninth seed broke again later in the set before cruising through another service game to take the opening set.

Although the first set was impressive, the second set was even more spectacular from Rybakina given that Raducanu made a sensational start to the set.

A 40-0 lead was produced from Raducanu as she was feeling confident on the forehand side and looked to be making a match of it.

That never happened though as Rybakina came back to break in the opening game and would break later in the set to seal a 5-2 lead.

The former Wimbledon champion closed out the victory and sealed her place in the second week of the US Open for the first time in her career.

After the match Rybakina admitted she was happy with her performance and is hoping for a more successful US Open than previous years, “I’m really happy with the performance. It’s not easy to play against Emma, she is a tough competitor,” Rybakina was quoted by the BBC website as saying.

“I’m pretty happy with the way I played today and looking forward to the next match. Through the years, for some reason the US Open wasn’t that successful for me. Hopefully this year it will change. I’m really happy to get through and hopefully I can go as far as possible.”

After never getting past the third round before, this is already Rybakina’s best ever US Open.

Now Rybakina will aim to continue her red-hot form as she takes on Marketa Vondrousova or Jasmine Paolini on Sunday.
