Daniil Medvedev has made drastic changes to his coaching staff after his recent poor form resulted in a first round exit at the US Open.

The 29 year-old has had a poor season despite some moments of occasional success just like in Halle when he reached the final.

Medvedev’s latest setback was at the US Open where he went out in the opening round to Benjamin Bonzi for the second Grand Slam in a row after his defeat at Wimbledon.

Having started the season at five in the world, Medvedev now finds himself at 13 in the world after a run of poor results.

That has led to the decision of Medvedev splitting up with coach Gilles Cervara after eight years working together.

The duo had achieved 20 titles, a Grand Slam title and world number one ranking together but now have parted ways.

Below is the statement from Cervara who wrote an emotional message on Instagram.

However, it’s not just Cervara who has departed Medvedev’s team as performance coach Eric Hernandez has also left.

Now Medvedev will look to appoint a new coach heading into the Asian swing which will begin in September.
