Novak Djokovic is nearing a 100th career title after he defeated Cameron Norrie 6-4 6-7(6) 6-1 in Geneva.
The Serb is closing on an historic feat after overcoming his toughest test of the tournament so far.
After losing his first set of the tournament, Djokovic bounced back to claim victory and secure a place in the final.
Now Djokovic is one win away from becoming the third man in history to win 100 career titles alongside Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer.
Speaking after his win Djokovic admitted he was relieved to come through the match and is now looking forward to the final, “It was the toughest match of the tournament for me so far, three sets,” Djokovic told the ATP website.
“[In] the second set, he was a break up and I managed to come back to the tie-break, [I had] a match point, I got a little bit tight there. But I’m really glad how I regrouped in the third and played the best set of the tournament.”
Next up for Djokovic will be Hubert Hurkacz with the Pole defeating Sebastian Ofner to reach the final.
The Serb has won all seven previous meetings heading into Saturday’s historic event.
