Iga Swiatek cruised past Croatian qualifier Jana Fett 6-2 6-2 to reach the Round of 16 at the Porsche Indoor Grand Prix in Stuttgart.
Swiatek broke world number 153 Jana Fett twice in the fourth and eighth games of the first set and did not face any break points in the first set.
Fett earned her first break in the first game of the second set and consolidated it by holding serve at deuce. Swiatek rallied by winning six consecutive games to seal the second set 6-2 after 1 hour and 16 minutes. Swiatek sealed the win on her second match point after Fett made her ninth double fault.
Swiatek dropped her serve once and won 81% of her first serve points.
Swiatek bounced back from her defeat against Alexandra Eala in the Miami Open quarter final. The Pole is making her fourth appearance in Stuttgart. She has always reached at least the quarter final.
Swiatek has won 11 of her 12 matches in Stuttgart. She won the title in her first two appearances beating Aryna Sabalenka in the 2022 and 2023 fiinaò
“I am happy that I found a little bit of rhythm. I gave myself time to feel the court and everything. It felt great. I am happy that I have another chance to play here. You need a lot of inner energy and a lot pf motivation to get out every week and play as good as you can. It’s not only about technique and tennis. It’s about mentality and the feelings that you have inside”, said Swiatek.
