World number 4 Coco Gauff cruised past lucky loser Ella Seidel 6-1 6-1 in just 57 minutes to reach the quarter final at the WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart equalling her career-best result at this tournament.

Gauff won 87% of her first serve points and saved all three break points she faced to reach her first quarter final since last January’s Australian Open.

Gauff won the first five games and closed out the first set on her serve in the seventh game. Seidel held on her serve in the first game of the second set but Gauff reeled off six consecutive games to close out the match in 57 minutes.

Gauff set up a quarter final against 2024 Roland Garros and Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini.

“She’s an incredible mover and she has a really good forehand. We haven’t played recently on tour, but we do practice together, like she said. Everybody knows about Jasmine and also the fight that she has in her. She never gives up. I have never seen her do that on the court”, said Gauff.

Paolini beat world number 121 player Jule Niemeier 6-1 7-5 in hour and 27 minutes.

Paolini broke serve in the fourth and sixth games to win the first set 6-1. The world number 6 player went up a break at the start of the second set. Niemeier broke back in the fourth game to draw level to 2-2. Paolini earned a second break in the seventh game, but Niemeier pulled back in the next game to draw level to 4-4. Paolini saved a set point in the 11thgame before breaking serve in the 11th game to take a 6-5 lead. Paolini served out the win on her third match point.

Jelena Ostapenko battled past Emma Navarro 7-5 3-6 6-2 in 2 hours and 18 minutes to reach her first quarter final in Stuttgart in 2018. Ostapenko converted six of her nine break points.

Ostapenko has reached quarter final of the year. She has a win-loss record of 3-1 record against top 20 players in 2025.

Ostapenko broke serve in the third game to take a 2-1 lead. Navarro broke straight back to draw level to 2-2 in the fourth game. Ostapenko broke for the second time in the seventh game to take a 4-3 lead.

Ostapenko was not able to serve out to serve out the first set at 5-4, as Navarro pulled back on serve. The Latvian player earned the third break in the 11th game and served out the first set 7-5 with a hold at love.

Navarro broke serve in the sixth game with a backhand crosscourt winner to take a 4-2 lead. The US player and was never broken in the second set.

Ostapenko won 16 of her next 20 points from 2-2 in the third set to seal the win.

Ostapenko set up a quarter final against Iga Swiatek in the quarter final.

Ostapenko leads 5-0 in her head-to-head matches against Swiatek and beat her Polish rival in Doha last February.

I just have to do what I have to do: Stay aggressive and playing my game. I’m always ready for a battle against great players”, said Ostapenko.
