Sebastian Korda and Jordan Thompson saved a match point to beat Joe Salisbury and Noel Skupski 6-7 (2-7) 7-5 11-9 in the doubles tournament at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
Both teams went on serve en route to the tie-break. Salisbury and Skupski earned two mini-breaks to win the tie-break 7-2. Korda and Thompson earned their first break in the 12th game to win the second set 7-5.
Korda and Thompson went up a mini-break in the match tie-break, but Salisbury and Skupski pulled back on serve bot times.
Korda and Thompson fended off a match point at 8-9 on Skupski’s serve when Salisbury mishit a volley.
Korda and Thompson converted on their own first match point to reach the quarter final. Korda and Thompson are teaming up for the third time. The US and Australian team won the Masters 1000 title in Madrid last year. They set up a quarter final match against Jir Lehecka and Alejandro Tabilo and Jiri Lehecka, who beat Jamie Murray and Adam Pavlasek 7-6 (7-1) 6-4.
