Reigning Wimbledon champions Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten beat Hugo Nys and Edouard Roger Vasselin 6-3 7-5 to reach the semifinal in the doubles tournament at the Australian Open. Heliovaara and Patten have not dropped a set at this tournament yet. The Finnish and British team converted four of his eight break points.
Nys and Roger Vasselin earned the first break in the third game to take a 2-1 lead. Heliovaara and Patten broke straight back in the fourth game to draw level to 2-2 before earning his second break in the sixth game to take a 4-2 lead. They served it out 6-3 on his first set point.
Heliovaara and Patten converted their second break point in the seventh game to take a 4-3 lead. Nys and Roger Vasselin broke straight back in the eighth game to draw level to draw level to 4-4. Heliovaara and Patten broke serve for the second time in the 11th game and served out the win on their first match point.
Heliovaara and Patten set up a semifinal against Nitto ATP Finals champions Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz, who beat Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool 7-6 (11-9) 7-6 (7-5).
Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori will face Andre Goransson and Sem Verbeek. Heliovaara and Patten claimed four titles durining a successful 2024 season at Wimbledon, Marrakesh, Lyon and Stockolm and reached two finals In Bucharest and Beijing.
