Ugo Humbert beats Brandon Nakashima to reach the second round in Paris Bercy

Ugo Humbert moved past Brandon Nakashima 6-3 4-6 6-4 at the Paris Rolex Masters to maintain his impressive record on indoor hard courts in France. 

Humbert broke serve in the second game to win the first set 6-3. The second set went on serve until the 10th game when Nakashima broke serve in the 10thgame from 15-40 down to seal the second set 6-4 forcing the match to the third set, 

Humbert saved both break points in the eighth game in a tight third set before breaking serve in the ninth game to secure his spot in the second round. 

Humbert has won his past nine matches on French indoor in Metz in 2023 and in Marseille in 2024.  

Tallon Griekspoor beat Luciano Darderi 6-3 6-4 to set up a second round match with third seed Alexander Zverev. Griekspoor broke serve in the second game and held serve at love to open up a 3-0 lead. The Dutch player converted his second break point in the third game and served out the win on his first match point. 

Tomas Martin Etcheverry saved all five break points to beat Zhang Zhizen 6-3 7-6 (8-6). Etcheverry set up a second round match against Grigor Dimitrov. 

Francisco Cerundolo beat French qualifier Quentin Halys 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 to set up a second round match against Andrey Rublev. Cerundolo broke serve in the seventh game of the first set to take a 4-3 lead. Halys broke straight back to draw level to draw level to 4-4. Cerundolo saved two set points in the 10th game to draw level to 5-5. Cerundolo won the tie-break 7-5 on his second set point. Cerundolo earned a break in the fourth game and served out on his first match point. 

Arthur Rinderknech advanced to the second round when Thomas Machac withdrew from the match. Machac was leading 7-6 (3-6) 6-3 when the match was halted. Rinderknech will play against either Alex Michelsen or Hubert Hurkacz.
