Novak Djokovic has boosted his hopes of qualifying for the ATP Finals after a dominant 6-1 6-2 win over Flavio Cobolli in Shanghai.
The three-time champion is into the fourth round in China after only dropping three games against the Italian.
Another big win which does the Serb the world of good in his bid to qualify for the season-ending finale in Turin.
Speaking after the match Djokovic was happy with his performance as he aims for a fourth title in Shanghai, “From the beginning I had a clear game plan of what I needed to do, staying aggressive and trying to use every short ball to take the initiative in the point,” Djokovic stated to the ATP website.
“Cobolli was evidently exhausted after last night’s match [against Stan Wawrinka]. I think that has taken a toll, physically, on him today. I haven’t played too many matches, I think the positive in that is that I’m fresh, so I am happy to play every day [or] as long as it takes.”
Djokovic is currently eighth in the race to Turin and knows that a deep run takes him one step closer to Italy.
Next up for Djokovic is Roman Safiullin after he edged past Frances Tiafoe in the last set tiebreak.
However the match was overshadowed by Tiafoe saying ‘F*** You’ to the umpire after the match after losing his first serve on a big point.
Should Djokovic win that match he could face Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals and Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals.
