Jessica Pegula and Jasmine Paolini cruised into the second week with victories over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro and Yulia Putintseva respectively.
Starting with Pegula, the sixth seed continued her recent good form with a 6-3 6-3 win over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.
Bouzas Maneiro had knocked out 31st seed Katie Boulter in the previous round and gave Pegula a massive test by recovering from a break down.
However the Toronto champion stormed to victory with some clinical tennis on return as her bid for a maiden Grand Slam title continues into the second week.
Despite the win Pegula remained unsatisfied with her serve as she was seen practicing ahead of her last 16 clash with either 18th seed Diana Schnaider or Sara Errani.

Speaking of Errani, the Italian’s doubles partner Jasmine Paolini progressed with a 6-3 6-4 win over the in-form Yulia Putintseva.
The result means that Paolini has reached the second week of all four Grand Slams this season having reached the final of her last two.
A tough test will await Paolini on Monday though as the Italian takes on last year’s semi-finalist Karolina Muchova.
Muchova defeated Anastasia Potapova 6-4 6-2 to back up her win over Naomi Osaka and progress to the last 16 of a Grand Slam for the seventh time in her career.
