Jannik Sinner is the first player to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals after reaching the quarter-finals in Montreal.
The world number one continued his title defence in Canada with a 6-4 6-3 victory over Alejandro Tabilo.
Sinner’s campaign will continue into the quarter-finals where he will face fifth seed Andrey Rublev.
However that wasn’t the only reason for the Italian to smile as he is now the first player to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin at the end of the season.
It’s been an incredible season for Sinner which started by winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open.
Since then Sinner won titles in Rotterdam and Miami as well as reaching the semi-finals at Roland Garros.
Now the Italian will make his second consecutive appearance in Turin after reaching the final last year before losing to Novak Djokovic in the final.
As for the short-term Sinner is back in action on Saturday night as he takes on Andrey Rublev in the last eight.
