The final stage of the season is beginning. New York is preparing for a two-week battle with no holds barred, where glory is at stake. But who are the favorites in the men’s draw?

Carlos Alcaraz

The Spaniard is the champion of the 2022 edition, and his game has already shown the ability to adapt to all surfaces. Just recently, he won titles at Roland Garros and Wimbledon this season. It’s true that he arrives at the US Open with more doubts than certainties after losing the Olympic final and his debut match in Cincinnati against Gael Monfils. However, if there’s one thing Carlitos has shown, it’s his resilience in the face of adversity, so we cannot rule him out as a favorite for the title.

Novak Djokovic

He needs no introduction. The Serbian’s last Grand Slam title was right here, just last season. He arrives as the defending champion, with no pressure after securing the Olympic gold, and with sky-high confidence. He will be one of the big names to watch in this edition if his physical condition holds up, as his extensive experience and track record place him a step above (almost) the entire circuit.

Alexander Zverev

The German has resurged in 2024 after two seasons marked by the serious injury suffered at Roland Garros in 2022 and the loss of confidence that came with his return to the tour in 2023. A semifinalist at the Australian Open and finalist at Roland Garros this year, Sacha will seek to claim his first Grand Slam title in the New York tournament. His powerfulbaseline game and serve are always formidable weapons on fast surfaces, so his chances of fighting for glory should not be underestimated.

Daniil Medvedev

The Russian knows what it’s like to win in New York (2021), having also reached two other finals (2019 and 2023). His game adapts perfectly to hard courts. Although he hasn’t had the best results in recent weeks, Daniil usually shows his best side in this tournament and will surely be one of the opponents most will want to avoid. His playing style makes his rivals uncomfortable, and he knows how to beat all the other title contenders. Never underestimate Medvedev.

Jannik Sinner

The current World No. 1 has had a magnificent season, and his name cannot be overlooked as a contender for the trophy. Winner of five titles in 2024 (Australian Open, Miami, Rotterdam, Halle, and Cincinnati), Jannik has won 47 of the 52 matches he played. He has had some setbacks, but overall, he has maintained a very high and consistent level throughout the year. It will be very difficult to stop him if he keeps playing like this.
