Elena Rybakina has split up from her coach after a five year collaboration as the Kazakh prepares for the US Open.

The world number four announced the news on her Instagram story on Thursday evening that she will split with coach Stefano Vukov after a five year collaboration.

In her statement Rybakina thanked her former coach for the support in her career but now will go down a different path ahead of the US Open, “Hello Everyone, after 5 years, Stefano and I are no longer working together,” Rybakina stated.

“I thank him for his work on-court and wish him all the best for the future. Thank you all for your support.”

Rybakina reached two Grand Slam finals under Vukov which one of them saw her win her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.

However this season hasn’t gone to plan for Rybakina with illnesses playing a part in a turbulent season.

After reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon, Rybakina’s opening round exit to Leylah Fernandez in Cincinnati was last straw for Vukov.

Now Rybakina prepares to take on Destanee Aiava in the opening round at the US Open without a coach.

The final Grand Slam of the season starts on Monday.
