After weeks of unsubstantiated rumours and suggestive pictures, Jannik Sinner has confirmed he is dating 25-year-old tennis player Anna Kalinskaya. The no. 2 player in the world made his debut on Monday at Roland Garros after a month-long absence from the Tour due to a hip injury.

During Sinner’s first-round straight-set win against American Christopher Eubanks, Kalinskaya made a brief appearance on Court Suzanne Lenglen, confirming that she may have a special interest in the 22-year-old Italian who is aiming to reach the top spot of the ATP ranking by the end of the tournament.

The couple was spotted training at the same tennis club in Turin at the beginning of May: Sinner was in the city that hosts the Nitto ATP Finals in November for some medical test at J|Medical, the private clinic owned by football team Juventus FC, and Kalinskaya was in Italy to participate to the Internazionali BNL d’Italia where she lost in the third round to Elina Svitolina.

During his post-match press conference, Sinner confirmed the liaison to the Italian press: “I don’t like to talk about my private life much, but yes, Anna and I are dating”.

After 2021 Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini and Australian player Ajla Tomljanovic dated for almost three years between July 2019 and March 2022, another high-profile tennis couple involves a Top 10 Italian player.

Sinner is currently occupying the no. 2 spot in the ATP ranking and has concrete chances to surpass Novak Djokovic to become the 29th player in the history of professional tennis to climb to the top of the ranking. After clinching his maiden Major title in Australia last January, he went on to win his fourth ATP 500 title in Rotterdam and his second ATP 1000 tournament in Miami before having to retire in the quarterfinals at the Mutua Madrid Open due to a hip injury.

Kalinskaya is currently no. 25 in the WTA ranking after a good start of the season in Australia, where she reached the quarterfinals losing to Qinwen Zheng, and a final at the WTA 1000 Dubai Duty Free Championships where she lost to Italian Jasmine Paolini.
