Iga Swiatek has suffered a shock exit at the Australian Open against Linda Noskova in the third round.

The world number one couldn’t capitalise on an open draw as she lost 3-6 6-3 6-4 to world number 50 Linda Noskova.

Noskova produced consistent power from the baseline as she came back from a set down to defeat Swiatek.

Next for Noskova is Elina Svitolina or Viktorija Golubic.

Although the Pole claimed the opening set, the dangers were already there in the opening set as Noskova produced effortless power on return to create two break points in the third game.

However Swiatek bounced back as she held and broke in a long return game with some stunning forehands to take a 4-2 lead.

The world number one would eventually close out the opening set in 45 minutes.

In the second set both players made an efficient start on serve before Swiatek would be more aggressive later on in the set.

Two break points would be created by Swiatek but Noskova produced some clutch serving to fend off the attack by the world number one.

Then the turning point in the match as a break to love in the eighth game saw Noskova power to a 5-3 lead.

There would be no mistake as her fearless power saw her hold to take the second set as well as breaking in the third game of the final set.

A temporary comeback from Swiatek saw the Pole break immediately back with some vicious forehands.

However it was Noskova’s day as the Czech Republican continued to take the ball early as she broke in the seventh game and claimed the biggest win of her career.

For Swiatek it’s disappointment as her Australian Open dream is over for another year.

As for Noskova, she will play Elina Svitolina or Viktorija Golubic in what will be her maiden second week Grand Slam appearance.
