Grigor Dimitrov held off Hubert Hurkacz 6-1 4-6 6-4 in 94 minutes to reach the semifinal at the Paris Rolex Masters at the Accor Arena in Paris Bercy. Dimitrov converted both break points he faced.
Dimitrov broke twice in the second and sixth games to win the first set 6-1. Hurkacz earned his first break in the 10th game, when Dimitrov served to extend to match.
Dimitrov earned a break in the seventh game of the third set to seal the win on his first match point.
Dimitrov reached 40-tour level wins in a season for the first time since 2017, when he won the ATP Finals in London. “My body is feeling well. That’s the most important thing. My head is good. If I am able to play like that on a consistent basis throughout every game, I put myself in a position to do better”, said Dimitrov.
This defeat ended Hurkacz’s hopes of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin.
