Taylor Fritz is taking the positives into semi-final weekend at Atlanta after knocking out Kei Nishikori 6-4 6-2.

The American defeated a physically limited Nishikori in straight sets to book his place in the last four.

Fritz only lost four points on his first serve as he only lost six games in a 73 minute victory.

After the match, Fritz took the positives in the straight sets victory and praised Nishikori’s comeback to the tour, “I’m super happy how I played today, getting better and better each day I feel like,” Fritz told the ATP website.

“A lot of positives I can take into the next match. Kei has been around since I first started. He’s an incredible player and a great guy. I’m just happy to see him back playing again, having good results and hitting the ball well after being injured for so long.”

Fritz will now look to continue the momentum against compatriot J.J. Wolf after the eighth seed knocked out Dominik Koepfer with the loss of five games.

The other semi-final on Saturday will seed Aleksandar Vukic take on Ugo Humbert after both players scored upset victories.

After a two hour delay to play due to rain, Vukic defeated Wimbledon quarter-finalist and home favourite Christopher Eubanks.

While Ugo Humbert knocked out former champion Alex De Minaur in straight sets.

The semi-finals in Atlanta will begin at 8pm BST time.
