Jannik Sinner saw off Alexander Bublik 6-4 6-2 in the second round to advance to the quarter finals at the Libema Open in s’Hertogenbosch.
Sinner converted 3 of the 12 break points he faced to beat Bublik in 84 minutes. Bublik reached two ATP Tour finals on grass.
Sinner holds a 5-5 on grass, but he reached the quarter finals at Wimbledon.
“It’s never easy to play against Bublik. He serves very good, he can play every kind of shot, so I had to be very careful. From my side, I think I served well in important moments. For me this is a special tournament, because in 2019, I won my first match on grass here in 2019. The support is always very nice. It means a lot. I have grown up but I am still young. I learned my things. My position is very different, much better now, but I know I can still improve a lot”, said Sinner.
Sinner set up a quarter final against Emil Ruusuvuori, who battled past Ugo Humbert 6-2 6-7 (6-8) 6-4. Ruusuvuori will play in his second quarter final clash of the season against Sinner. The Italian won all his five previous head-to-head matches, including a 6-3 6-1 win in the quarter finals at the Miami Open last March.
