Iga Swiatek has admitted she is excited to be in her first WTA grass court quarter-final in Bad Homburg.

The world number one produced a dominant display against Jil Teichmann to reach the last eight in Germany.

Swiatek broke on four occasions in her 6-1 6-3 demolition of Teichmann to set up a meeting with either Leylah Fernandez or Anna Blinkova.

After her win Swiatek spoke about her excitement in reaching her first WTA quarter-final on grass, “I think it’s my first grass-court quarterfinal, so pretty excited,” Swiatek told the WTA website after her victory.

“For sure, today was a good day. I was happy with my performance. I felt like I had everything under control and that’s great. It’s getting easier every year to convert my clay-court style to more grass-court style.

“I think it will come with experience. I have a coach who knows how to coach players who are good on grass court like Aga Radwanska, so I’m pretty positive about my future on grass.”

Swiatek has reached a quarter-final on grass at Juniors level when she won the Wimbledon title in 2018.

Now Swiatek will look to reach the last four when she takes on Leylah Fernandez or Anna Blinkova on Thursday.

The other quarter-finals will see Lucia Bronzetti take on Varvara Gracheva while in the bottom half of the draw it’s Rebeka Masarova against Emma Navarro while Katerina Siniakova faces Liudmila Samsonova.

Pegula battles Gauff in Eastbourne.

Meanwhile in Eastbourne doubles partners Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff will do battle in the last eight.

Pegula defeated Camila Osorio 6-2 1-6 6-3 while Gauff thrashed Jodie Burrage 6-1 6-1.

Also in Eastbourne there were victories for Madison Keys and Jelena Ostapenko while Ons Jabeur was eliminated by Camila Giorgi in straight sets.
