Amanda Anisimova has decided to take a break from Tennis as she decides to prioritise her mental health.
The American hasn’t had the best start to the new season having only won three matches from eight tournaments as she suffered another early exit in Madrid, losing to Arantxa Rus.
However it seems there is more than just bad form as the reason to why Anisimova is struggling this season as the American now reveals that her mental health has suffered.
Revealing the news on Instagram, Anisimova has told her fans that she will be taking a break from Tennis to focus on her mental health, “I thought I’d make a post explaining what’s been going on and my plans,” Anisimova revealed on social media.
“I’ve really been struggling with my mental health and burnout since the summer of 2022. It’s become unbearable being at tennis tournaments. At this point my priority is my mental well-being and taking a break for some time.
“I’ve worked as hard as I could to push through it. I will miss being out there, and I appreciate all the continuous support.”
Anisimova will be hoping that she can refresh her mind and body as her main aim will be to recover ahead of her home Grand Slam at the US Open later this year.
