Stefanos Tsitsipas battled past Lorenzo Musetti to reach the Barcelona final after a 6-4 5-7 6-3 victory.
Tsitsipas is into his third Barcelona final but had to battle past an in-form Musetti.
The Italian had beaten Novak Djokovic last week and backed it up by making the last four in Spain this week.
However Tsitsipas showed his physicality and strength to reach the championship match again winning in a two and a half hour battle.
After the win Tsitsipas admitted that his physicality was important on his way to recording a fourth consecutive victory over the Italian, “It was very physical out there,” Tsitsipas admitted to the ATP website.
“We had to cover lots of metres on the court and he had some incredible defensive shots that I really didn’t expect at all. It was such a mental challenge, I had to go out there and fight it all through [with] the determination of a lion, and just [went] out there to do the best I can.
“He’s a very difficult challenge, especially on this court, so it required a little bit more today.”
Tsitsipas will aim to win his first career Barcelona title after losing his previous two finals to Rafael Nadal
Tomorrow the Greek will also aim to win his first title of the season and Tsitsipas said the motivation to win the final couldn’t be any stronger, “Getting myself out there for another chance [to win the Barcelona title], my will is strong and so is my heart,” Tsitsipas said.
“I go out there and give it a go and try the best I can. Nothing [negative] at all. Just enjoy this.”
In the final Tsitsipas will face either Carlos Alcaraz or Dan Evans who are facing in the second semi-final.
Tsitsipas is currently 3-0 down to Alcaraz in the head-to-head while against Evans he leads the head-to-head 4-0.
